The Challenge

What we set out to solve

CPI Card Group is a publicly traded enterprise serving financial institutions with payment card manufacturing, instant card issuance, and prepaid card services. Their website had to serve multiple distinct audiences simultaneously. Enterprise banking clients evaluating vendors, investors tracking financial performance, journalists seeking company information, and potential employees exploring careers all needed clear paths through the site.

Each audience needed its own content section with its own editorial voice, its own compliance requirements (investor relations content is regulated differently than marketing content), and its own update cadence. The underlying content management system had to make it easy for content editors across departments to maintain their respective sections without stepping on each other's work. A single misstep could cause a compliance issue.

Our Approach

How we solved it

We built a custom WordPress theme designed around the concept of content ownership. Rather than a single monolithic site with shared layouts, the architecture treats each major section as a semi-autonomous area with its own templates, component library, and editorial permissions. Company, Solutions, Investor Relations, Newsroom, and Careers each function as their own editorial zone.

Investor Relations required special attention. We designed the content types and templates to accommodate quarterly earnings releases, SEC filings, investor presentations, and financial reports with the predictable structure investors expect. The editorial workflow ensures that materially important announcements flow through appropriate review before publication.

The Solutions section was built as a flexible content architecture that marketing can update without developer involvement, while maintaining the brand consistency and quality bar expected of an enterprise public company.

The Results

What we delivered

CPI Card Group's website now serves its multiple stakeholder audiences from a single, cohesive platform. Marketing teams publish solution content and case studies without touching investor relations templates. The IR team maintains earnings content and SEC filings in a structured environment that reduces the risk of errors. The newsroom has its own publishing workflow for press releases and media resources.

The custom content architecture has scaled with the company through multiple content expansions, redesigns of individual sections, and new stakeholder needs. All of this happens without requiring a full platform rebuild.

Technical Deep-Dive

Under the hood

The build is on WordPress with a fully custom theme (no page builder dependencies), Advanced Custom Fields for structured content types, custom post types for each major content category, and role-based editorial permissions mapped to the actual organizational structure. Enterprise hosting ensures the site meets the uptime and performance expectations of a publicly traded client.
